The short version
- No cookies from this site, no analytics, no tracking pixels.
- Your exercise progress stays in your own browser. I never see it.
- When you book a lesson, Cal.com collects your name and email so we can meet.
- You can ask me to see or delete your data at any time: boccuzzifabio@gmail.com.
Who is responsible
Fabio Boccuzzi, Italian teacher, VAT number (P.IVA) 13510320016, Piedmont, Italy. I am the data controller for this website. You can reach me at boccuzzifabio@gmail.com.
What I collect, and why
- Booking a lesson. The booking calendar is provided by Cal.com. When you book, it asks for your name, your email and anything you choose to write in the notes. I use them to hold the lesson, send you the video link and keep in touch about your lessons. The lesson appears in my Google Calendar and the video call runs on Google Meet.
- Writing to me. If you email me, I keep the conversation in my mailbox (Gmail) for as long as we're in touch.
- Lesson packages. If you buy a block of lessons, I keep track of how many you've used. Your personal page shows your first name, the lessons you've booked and the ones you've done. It is only reachable through the private link I send you and it is hidden from search engines. Your email is never shown on that page: it is kept in a private configuration used only to count your lessons from my calendar.
- Paying. Payments are bank transfers through Wise. Wise processes the payment details under its own privacy policy; I only see who paid, how much and when. I keep payment records as required by Italian tax law.
The legal basis is the agreement between us (organising and holding your lessons) and, for tax records, a legal obligation.
The exercises
- Your progress is stored on your device. Flashcard boxes, challenge records and unlocked levels are saved in your browser's local storage. Nothing is sent to me or to anyone else. Clearing your browser data deletes it.
- Speaking exercises. Exercises that listen to you use your browser's built-in speech recognition, and only after you allow the microphone. Depending on your browser, the audio may be processed by its maker (for example Google, in Chrome) to turn speech into text. I don't receive or record any audio.
- Listening exercises use the voice built into your device. Nothing leaves your device.
Cookies
This website doesn't set any cookies. Fonts are hosted on this site, so no request goes to Google Fonts. The booking calendar on the booking page is loaded from Cal.com, which may use its own technical cookies to make the booking work.
Who else handles the data
Only the services that make the site and the lessons work:
- GitHub hosts the website. Like any web host, it records technical data such as IP addresses to deliver pages and keep the service secure.
- Cal.com for bookings, Google for calendar, email and video calls, Wise for payments.
Some of these providers are based in the United States. Transfers outside the EU rely on the safeguards the GDPR allows, such as the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
How long I keep it
Booking and contact details: as long as we have lessons together, and up to two years after the last one, in case you come back. Payment records: as long as Italian tax law requires (currently ten years). After that, I delete them.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask to see the data I have about you, correct it, delete it, receive a copy of it, or object to how I use it. Just write to boccuzzifabio@gmail.com and I'll answer within a month, usually much sooner. If you think I've handled your data badly, you can also complain to the Italian data protection authority, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali.
